About Us

We believe that different students have different learning needs.

Liverpool City College was founded in 2010. In February 2012 we passed our first ISI inspection. We are now ISI accredited. In 2013 we received Highly Trusted Status from UKBA.

We work with various Universities such as The University of Liverpool, John Moores University, UCLAN, & Aberystwyth University. In September 2013 we moved into our brand new campus in Hatton Garden, Liverpool City Centre.

We strongly believe that it is very crucial that all learners enjoy their learning experience. We focus on and emphasise both the experience and outcome for each individual. We have received positive feedback from our learners in relation to their studies. We work very closely with the industry leaders in order to ensure that we provide our learners with every possible opportunity to follow through their desired career path and achieve their dream.

In the previous ISI report in 2012, the ISI inspector highlighted that outstanding teaching was observed and students talked positively about their learning experience.

About our Principal Lay Lim

I was born in Malaysia and chose to come to Liverpool in 2000 to pursue my Law Undergraduate Degree. I graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Bachelors Degree in Law with Honours in July 2002.

I went to Inns of Court School of London to train as a barrister and was called to the bar as a member of Lincoln’s Inn 14/10/2004 . I passed my bar exam in 2004.

Having worked for solicitors firms, the Crown Prosecution Service, police, criminal justice system and the home office I eventually set up my own college in November 2009 to pursue my passion for teaching and learning.

I went to Thailand and was greeted by the deputy Prime Minister of Thailand in March 2012. I was in Malaysia and China with Manchester City and met with their club ambassador , Mike Summerbee. I have a good relationship with the President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

My style of teaching centres around a belief that better teaching can be achieved through building connections with my students, and the results and feedback we receive speak for themselves.

I am a keen runner. I ran the Liverpool Marathon in 2013, half marathon 2012, 2013 , Chester half marathon 2013 and I have come 4th in my gender position in Tour of Merseyside 2013.
